The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists announced that, beginning Jan. 1, 2011, continuing education credit for applications training will be capped at eight credits per biennium, instead of the previously proposed six credits. The revision to the proposed change was based on public comment.
In a statement issued from the ARRT, Director of Education Requirements and Registration Cindy Daniels, M.S., R.T.(R), said that the CE credit limitation for applications training will have a positive effect. "Technologists being trained on a piece of equipment are learning important information, but — by limiting the number of credits that can be applied to ARRT's CE requirements — they will have the opportunity to participate in other CE activities to expand the depth and breadth of their knowledge base. Of course, this does not limit the amount of applications training that an individual may do for their own benefit."
